Brenton Wood: Some Got It, Some Don’t (Double Shot, 1968, 7″)
Fascinating production choices on here…the way it opens, you think it’s going to be a slow-burner funk tune, ala “Cleo’s Mood/Back” but then you have those unexpected synth notes. And then the whole beat shifts into more of a Northern tempo but it feels like it starts, awkwardly, off the down beat.
