Seems comments are only allowed on the most recent post? Anyway, just wanted to chime in and let you know that you have at least one more faithful reader! I’m glad to see a higher frequency of posts recently. Soul Sides is a great place to hear (and learn about) soul music that I would never otherwise have encountered. Keep up the good work!
Truly sad news. The Web for the most part is fairly accessible from a variety of platforms and devices. Increasingly Facebook is no despite what investor messaging from FB is. Its pretty easy two cross post two both and I fear you will lose long term customers, listeners and fans by choosing Facebooks Groups.

Good luck with the Facebook group. I’m hardly using that platform at the moment, but will join and hope to step up my usage in the future.
I’ve read your blog for many years now (10?) and it’s a valuable source of information and inspiration.
If it ever seems a bit of a burden to keep doing this work, remember that there’s a 40-something guy in deepest Wales in the UK who plays records by the likes of the DeVons to appreciative dancers/bar-goers as a result of your site (and who’s blown a unrepairable hole in his wallet as a result)!
As I’m sure you know, the northern soul scene is still massive here, but soul in general and related genres still bring joy to people. Like you, I’m finding the likes of Curtis a source of inspiration and solace in these Brexit/Trump soiled times. I’m counting the minutes until I get to play “We People….” at the start of next Sunday’s session!

Hi Oliver. I agree with the email you received – the world needs you. I know this is true because I need you. And I know there are others like me – I WANT TO be a crate digger. I WANT TO be a soul music aficionado, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre, but I just don’t think I’m gonna become that.
What I am is a soul music LOVER. I’m inspired by the music you feature here. I’m lifted up by it. But Oliver, believe me when I tell you, if it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have heard it. Ever.
Soul Sides Volume 1 BY ITSELF, has brought me so much. And though I enjoy the streaming suggestive algorithms that offer music to me that I might like based on what I streamed yesterday, they wouldn’t have brought me to Lee Moses’ Time and Place. I know that. You know that. There are practical and commercial limits that will prevent an algorithm from ever being as exciting and thoughtful as a gifted DJ.
YOU are a gifted DJ. I hope you keep writing and spinning on this site for as long as we’re both alive to listen, and to bear witness to how much better the world is for having this music in it.
