Adam Mansbach has been a friend for years now – we still rap about records every time we link up – so it’s been with a mixture of happiness, pride and complete incredulity that I’ve witnessed the phenom that is his “children’s” book, Go The F— To Sleep which managed to become a best-seller with no formal marketing at all.
I’ll have more to say about all this in a couple of weeks when Adam joins me, in studio, to tape an episode of The Sidebar but this was just too good to pass up. The official audiobook version of his runaway hit is read by…Samuel Jackson. Perfect, right?
Somehow, I thought Jackson’s read was even funnier with your basic “beep” edit. If you’d prefer the profane version, help yourself at Audible. Otherwise, enjoy this as a teaser for our upcoming chit-chat.
Samuel Jackson reads Go the F— To Sleep (clean snippet)
I remember reading about this book a couple months ago and have been anxiously awaiting it. It just came out today, I think. Great pairing having SLJ read it.
Brilliant. So glad I just subscribed to audible now…
As a father of two, this is clearly the book I need to be listening to (after they’ve gone to sleep)
Cheers 🙂
Samuel Jackson reading the book -an idea almost as clever as writing the book.
I’m in awe. And perhaps slightly envious.
btw, I think the Sidebar series is brilliant.
Pierre: Merci!
I have to say – it’s one of those “wait, why the hell didn’t I do this earlier?” ideas I’ve had (starting this blog also being along the same lines). However, I think the key key thing was getting a semi-studio quality mic set-up at home. Game changer in both facilitating these podcasts and making me *want* to record them.
It’s wonderful for parents but not for children=) Almost fall asleep myself when listened the audible version!
