Musad and the Warm Expressions: Black Christmas + Gettin’ Down – Ghetto Style
From 7″ (Narobi, 197?)
Found a pair of these private press 7″s at Avalon Vintage in Highland Park. It’s an early/mid-70s single of out East Palo Alto (aka Nairobi, spelled here sans “i”). A bit of tongue-in-cheek Black nationalism mixed with an early use of drum machine (possibly a built-in rhythm setting on an electric organ but same difference, really) on both sides. Seem apropos for the season.
Happy holidays to everyone from Soul Sides. (And if you’re up in the Yay this week, I’ll probably be at the Groove Merchant on Friday, trading in the spare of this single!)
