Leroy Hutson: Love the Feeling (Curtom, 1976, II)

As I noted last post, Hutson put together a killer streak of albums in the mid ’70s, beginning with Love Oh Love, then on The Man! and then on his two eponymous albums, I and II. I can’t even try to tell you which one is my favorite but at least with II, I can say that “Love The Feeling” is an absolutely ace way to kick off the album with a super-soulful, porto-disco dance track that feels luxurious but never self-indulgent. My only beef is that it’s too short; if ever a track called for an extended disco edit, this would be a great candidate.
